SWISS SPORT INTEGRITY ISSUES A WARNING TO A SWISSS BASKETBALL CLUB

On 22 June 2026, Swiss Sport Integrity (SSI) issued a warning to a Swiss LNA (League Nationale A) basketball club for failure to meet its obligations.

Doping prevention and education programmes are essential for protecting athletes‘ health and their right to fair play.

They are designed to prevent both intentional and unintentional anti-doping rule violations.

SSI implements appropriate measures in collaboration with national sports federations and their affiliated associations or clubs.

A prevention campaign was organised within the LNA during the summer of 2025 in collaboration with Swiss Basketball. Because the first date agreed upon with the Swiss LNA club was missed—having been cancelled at the last minute—the second date could not proceed as planned and had to be shortened to ensure that the anti-doping training could still take place.

This failure by the Swiss LNA club to meet its obligations constituted a violation of the Swiss Olympic Doping Statute (Art. 20.2) and was also viewed as a lack of support and due diligence regarding the athletes.

Under an amicable agreement, the Swiss LNA club received a warning from the SSI.

SSI reiterates that, in accordance with the Swiss Olympic Doping Statute, member federations and their affiliated associations or clubs must ensure doping prevention measures are in place so that all athletes are educated on anti-doping rules and have access to up-to-date information.

Swiss Olympic member federations and their affiliated associations or clubs, that fail to meet these obligations, will face potential sanctions.
