SWISS SPORT INTEGRITY IMPOSES PENALTIES ON AN AMATEUR KICKBOXER

Sport Integrity (SSI) issued the following Media Release on 27 February 2026:

“Swiss Sport Integrity has handed down on 27 February 2026 a three-year suspension to an amateur kickboxer for the presence, possession, and use of testosterone and has fined him.

A sample taken from an amateur kickboxer during a doping control conducted at competition tested positive for the permanently banned substance testosterone. The athlete was subsequently informed by Swiss Sport Integrity of the potential violation of the Swiss Olympic Anti-Doping Statute and provisionally suspended.

The athlete did not contest the anti-doping rule violation and decided to accept an agreement proposed by Swiss Sport Integrity under Article 10.8.1 of the Anti-Doping Statute, which provides for a three-year suspension (instead of four years), the annulment of all results obtained since the positive test, and a fine of 150 Swiss francs as a sanction. The suspension has been in effect since December 18, 2025, the date the provisional suspension began, and applies to all sports and all positions within sports, worldwide. Furthermore, the kickboxer must cover the costs of the doping control and analysis, totalling 1,278 Swiss francs.

Swiss Sport Integrity reminds everyone that the Anti-Doping Statute applies to all athletes licensed by or members of a federation or club affiliated with Swiss Olympic. Even recreational athletes can be suspended for violations of anti-doping rules. These rules therefore apply regardless of the athlete’s level of competition, age, or nationality.”

We act in anti-doping cases in elite and amateur sport in Switzerland before SSI, and other tribunals, including the Court of Arbitration for Sport and in appeals to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, and further information is available from either Dr Lucien Valloni or Kim Gamboni by emailing them at valloni@valloni.ch or at gamboni@valloni.ch respectively.
