NEW LAW JOURNAL ARTICLE

Our International Sports Law Consultant, Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw, has published a new article in the New Law Journal (www.newlawjournal.co.uk) on 1 May 2026.

The article, entitled ‘Playing by the rules?’  reports on the complaint to the European Commission under EU Competition Law regarding the high-ticket prices being charged by FIFA for the 2026 Men’s World Cup and the allocation of them, as well as certain human rights issues connected with the tournament in the United States, one of the co-hosts.

As the article concludes: the World Cup promises to be an interesting and controversial tournament not only on but also off the field of play!
