PUBLICATION OF CASE LAW OF THE SWISS OLYMPIC DISCIPLINARY CHAMBER

The Swiss Sports Tribunal (SST) has recently issued the following Press Release:

For the first time, the SST is making several decisions of the Swiss Olympic Disciplinary Chamber (SODC) available on the SST website at sportstribunal.ch.

From now on, certain decisions of the SODC, a body within Swiss Olympic previously responsible for ruling on doping cases and ethical breaches, are publicly accessible at ‘sportstribunal.ch’.

Thanks to a collaboration with the portal ‘entscheidsuche.ch’, an integrated search function provides easy access to the case law database of both the SST and the SODC.

The publication of the case law of the SODC (as well as that of the sentences and decisions of the SST, see Press Release of May 30, 2025) is in accordance with the principle of open justice in sports matters, pursuant to Art. 72d let. b no. 1 and Art. 72g para. 1 of the Ordinance on the Promotion of Sport and Physical Activity (OESp; SR 415.01).

This initiative aims to:

  • guarantee the credibility and legitimacy of the sentences and decisions rendered by the SST; and
  • ensure equal access to case law for those involved in disciplinary proceedings, in accordance with the principles of the rule of law.

The SST will regularly update its database with new decisions until the entire body of case law of the SODC is available.

The published decisions are anonymised in accordance with the Guidelines for the Anonymisation of Judgments and Decisions of the SST, a prerequisite for their online publication.

The SST is an arbitration institution responsible for resolving disputes related to sport or potential violations of certain regulations in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. It is the disciplinary body within the meaning of Art. 72g of the Swiss Ordinance on Sport Ethics (OESp), and is independent of Swiss Olympic and Swiss Sport Integrity.

Since July 1, 2024, the SST has adjudicated alleged violations of the Swiss Olympic Anti-Doping Statute and the Swiss Ethics Statute for Sport.
