Paul Pogba Doping Ban Reduced

France international and Juventus midfielder has successfully appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and had the four-year doping ban, imposed on him after testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone in his system, reduced to 18 months from 11 September 2023.

This means that he can resume training in January and start playing again in March 2025.

Pogba, who is 31 years old and gave evidence in person at the CAS appeal hearing, stated, on hearing the result, that: “Finally, the nightmare is over.”
And added that:
“I never knowingly breached World Anti-Doping Agency regulations when I took a nutritional substance prescribed to me by a doctor, which does not affect or enhance the performance of male athletes.”

Doping in sport is a strict liability offence and athletes are legally responsible for any prohibited substances that may be found in their bodies!
