According to figures released by the Deloitte Sports Business Group on 8 April 2026, global revenues in women\u2019s elite sports are expected to reach, at least, US$3 billion (around Sw. Frs. 2.36 billion) for the first time during this year.<\/p>\n
This increase represents a 25% increase on the revenues of US$2.4 billion (around Sw. Frs. 1.89 billion) generated last year.<\/p>\n
Overall, revenues in women\u2019s elite sports rose by 248% from 2022 to 2025 and this is expected to rise to 340% between 2022 and 2026.<\/p>\n
These updated figures and projections have been calculated based on three main categories of revenue: matchday, broadcast, and commercial.<\/p>\n
Commercial revenue, including sponsorships, partnerships and merchandising sales, is expected to represent the largest share of revenues, namely, 45% in women\u2019s sports this year.<\/p>\n
According to the Deloitte predictions, broadcast revenues are expected to represent 25% of women\u2019s sports revenues, namely, US$765 million (around Sw. Frs. 603.7 million) this year, which are, up from 23% last year.<\/p>\n
However, matchday revenues are expected to comprise 30% of women\u2019s sport revenues, namely, US$911 million (around Sw. Frs. 719 million), which are down from 31% last year, but, in absolute terms, represent an increase of over US$163 million (around Sw. Frs. 128.6 million).<\/p>\n
Football and basketball are expected to remain the top revenue-generating women\u2019s sports globally this year, with each expected to represent 35% of the total revenues.<\/p>\n
North America is expected to remain the largest revenue generating markets for women\u2019s elite sports, with the emergence of new leagues and increased professionalisation.<\/p>\n
