Swiss Sport Integrity has issued the following Media Release on February 6, 2026:<\/p>\n
\u201cSwiss Sport Integrity has handed down a three-year suspension to an amateur badminton player for possession and attempted use of the prohibited substance ibutamoren (MK-677) and fined him.<\/p>\n
During a postal inspection, a package addressed to an amateur badminton player containing 60 ibutamoren capsules was seized by the Federal Office of Customs and Border Security (FOCB) and forwarded to Swiss Sport Integrity.<\/p>\n
As stipulated by the Federal Act on the Promotion of Sport (FAPS), Swiss Sport Integrity ordered the destruction of the product, at the player’s expense, as part of an administrative procedure. The amateur athlete was subsequently informed, as part of the disciplinary proceedings, that the possession and use of prohibited substances constituted a potential violation of the Swiss Olympic Anti-Doping Statute.<\/p>\n
The amateur athlete decided to accept a settlement offered by Swiss Sport Integrity under Article 10.8.1 of the Anti-Doping Statute. This agreement stipulates a three-year suspension (instead of four years), the annulment of all results obtained since the seizure of the package on February 5, 2025, and a fine of 120 Swiss francs as a sanction related to results management.<\/p>\n
The suspension is effective from December 17, 2025, the date the signed agreement was received, and applies to all sports and all positions within sports worldwide.<\/p>\n
Swiss Sport Integrity reminds all athletes that the importation of doping substances is strictly prohibited. Even recreational athletes can be suspended for violations of anti-doping rules.<\/p>\n
These rules, therefore, apply regardless of the athlete’s level of competition, age, or nationality.\u201d<\/p>\n
It is interesting to note that the ban imposed on the badminton player applies not just to badminton but to all sports and throughout the world!<\/p>\n
