Italy was also one of the first countries to import women footballers from other European countries and hosted the first unofficial edition of the Women\u2019s World Cup in 1970.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian Women\u2019s Football League comprises five tiers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serie A and Serie B as single divisions;<\/li>\n<li>Serie C which is divided into four groups; and<\/li>\n<li>Eccellenza and Promozione, which is divided into further regional groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Serie A, which comprises 12 teams, became fully professional for the first time in the 2022-2023 season. The President of the Italian Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, remarked at the time:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>This is an important day<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And added:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Finally, there are rules governing the practice of professionalism in women\u2019s football<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Italy participated in the inaugural official 1991 FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian Women\u2019s National Football Team qualified for the 2019 and 2023 FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup and reached the finals of the 1993 and 1997 UEFA Women\u2019s Championships but did not win.<\/p>\n<p>Italy has qualified for the 14<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the UEFA Women\u2019s Euro Tournament, which take place in Switzerland from 2 \u2013 27 July 2025, and will face teams from Spain, Portugal and Belgium in Group B.<\/p>\n<p>We advise on all aspects of football event management and marketing of clubs and teams, including sponsorship, merchandising and image rights, and look forward to the forthcoming UEFA Women\u2019s Euro Tournament in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For further information, professional advice and representation, please email either Sara Botti or Lucien Valloni at <a href=\"mailto:botti@valloni.ch\">botti@valloni.ch<\/a> and <a href=\"mailto:valloni@valloni.ch\">valloni@valloni.ch<\/a> respectively.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As noted in another Post on the website, women\u2019s professional football in Europe and elsewhere is growing in popularity and this also applies to Italy.
